Jupiter fans were well-represented by the survey respondent who gushed, “Fish all day in choppy seas and ride home in comfort. Big game stored away in deck coolers and tackle secure as well. Just a fantastic machine all-around.”
Only about 1.5 points, out of 50, separated Jupiter scores in the survey’s four main categories: fishability, performance, design/construction and value. And while those were all splendid scores, value emerged on top. That all leads to a sterling brand reputation, the single attribute Jupiter fans appreciated most.
Jupiter boats are custom-built to the new owner’s specification to run fast and far offshore, without beating up or soaking the crew. And to do it again and again and again.
Jupiter doesn’t rush the creation of its boats. From lay-up to launch, its custom boatbuilding process takes about 12 weeks, depending on the degree of customization, and the results always please.
But that’s a short period of time compared to the 25-plus years the company has been building boats — or the 35-plus that its team has been doing it under company president Carl Herndon, formerly founder and CEO of Blackfin Yacht Corporation and former president of Bertram Yacht.
34 LX
Jupiter bills its new 34 LX as a crossover boat that is perfect for sport fishing, cruising and overnighting. One thing’s for sure: Fisherfolks never had it so good.
The cabin of the new 34 LX is skylight-washed luxury, reached by sliding away the door and descending three solid wood steps to a wood sole, high ceilings, aft berth and forward V-berth, and direct and indirect LED lighting. A 24-inch LCD TV is standard, and the galley offers hot and cold water, microwave and refrigerator, Corian countertops and high-gloss cabinets. The head boasts a Corian-countertop vanity and a stand-up shower.
Abovedeck, beneath an oversize hardtop (tower optional), an L-shaped lounge ahead of the helm offers passengers a spot to enjoy the ride, protected from wind and water but still able to take in the fresh air.
With the 34 LX, Jupiter set out to marry attributes of a yacht and a fine fishing boat. It makes nifty use of space with features like extra seating behind the double helm seats and a livewell within. Gunwale rod storage keeps fishing rods and reels out of the way and out of the elements, yet instantly accessible when it’s fishing time. A pair of outsize fish boxes at starboard and port await the catch.
