For more than two decades, Scout has built sport-fishing, dual consoles, walkaround, flats and bay boats, ranging from 15 to 35 feet long. Its goal is always to make the best-built boat in its distinctive niches. Our survey respondents say Scout has succeeded.
You don’t need to see the nameplate — a Scout boat’s unique Carolina-born shape, exuding seagoing strength and absolute fishability, announces its arrival. It’s accented by a transom tumblehome and waterline “speed” fins wrapping around the transom platform. Forward, Scout’s patented windshield is structurally integrated in the hardtop supports.
There’s plenty more behind the high marks that respondents with Scout experience give for the brand’s design and construction. Scout’s Strata-Mount transom system passes hull stringers through an integrated transom bracket to the engine mounts; the frame of the boat, not just its transom, supports the engine, and that rigid relationship between hull and power plant fosters stability and speed.
Scout uses two gas-saving hull designs. Softer ride comes from Scout’s NuV3 hull, whose increased deadrise also enhances stability and speed. Air-assist hulls are stepped for an efficiency boost that Scout credits with a 10 percent increase in speed over a similar V-bottom hull.
All that leads to the attribute those who know Scout rate most highly: brand reputation.
320 LXF
Like its stablemates the 275 LXF and 350 LXF, Scout’s new forward-seating, center-console 320 LXF offers the best of sport-fishers and cruisers, beginning with the proven NuV3 hull that boasts both high performance and fuel stinginess. (In fuel efficiency, Scout was among the survey’s top four brands.)
Scout’s C-Zone digital switching electronics system is easy to service, and a remote key fob lets you turn separate electronics and lights on and off from a distance.
The 320 LXF comes with Scout’s patented T-top/hardtop, featuring a tempered-glass enclosure and a power-sliding plexiglass window that keeps electronics safe.
An optional bow entertainment station offers a sink, cutting board, tackle drawers, 110V outlet and electric forward backrest. Catch a mess? An optional grill station with inverter/charging station is ready to cook!
You’ll find both port and starboard forward seating, with fish boxes and storage beneath, complementing the in-floor fish box. Fish-box capacity totals 320 quarts.
Standard features include dual swim platforms with center walk-through, transom door, an aft underdeck systems station with storage, hideaway transom seat, starboard storage closet, trim tabs, stainless-steel flush-mount rod holders, and an electric marine head within a space offering almost 6 feet of headroom.
The 320 LXF makes it clear that fishing doesn’t have to mean forgoing luxury.
